Jim Antone has his own chair at the bar because he just retired after 39 years at Deerfield Academy, but will never retire from coming to the inn. He remembers when the zamboni didn’t pick up and all the ice scrapings had to be shoveled out by hand. Now a new machine costs $120,000 and is a smooth and perfect ride that gets the ice rink as smooth as a pane of glass in a fraction of the time. Jim is in the Zamboni Hall of Fame with the “Z” on his arm to prove it!

We are all glad he lives in the village – right across from us, because he is one of the kindest and most generous of people – of time, heart, and hand, and the stories he can tell …. well! He is a great one to run into in Champney’s!
