White wines
300 Bell Wine Cellars, Chardonnay 50.00

delightful chardonnay. More European in style than Californian, with restrained use of oak
& no stirring allows pineapple and tropical fruit flavors to flourish.)

grassy and herbal. Cold fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain beautiful, crisp fruit flavors.)
319 Frog’s Leap, Sauvignon Blanc 38.00
(A classic sauvignon blanc with seductive aromas of lemongrass, minerals, and bright floral
notes. Bracing, refreshing, with citrus, white peach, and granite flavors, this bright wine
is a great treat, and you’d never mistake it for a chardonnay!)
323 La Caplana, Gavi di Gavi 28.00
(Distinctive and refreshing, full bodied and rich. Fruity and aromatic (lime and green apples!)
with mineral notes and a lovely citric finish. Wonderful both as an aperitif, and as an
accompaniment to fish and white meat dishes.)
324 Acacia, Pinot Noir Rosé 55.00
(Here’s a really nice rosé. We like it lightly chilled. Quite floral, but ripe, rich, and full on the
palate, not cloying in any way. An initial soft creaminess explodes into bright, fresh red fruits.
Bold enough to stand up to spiciness and meat, but also gentle enough to be a complement to fish.)
325 Monmousseau, Vouvray 22.00
(Lovely, classic, off-dry style. - silky-smooth, with aromas of honey, almond, quince,
ripe apples. Nice mix of residual sugar and zippy acidity. A terrific quaffing wine!

with candied fruit flavors: strawberry, pear, sherbet, blossoms. Eminently drinkable.)
328 Friederich, Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Riesling Kabinett 20.00
(A sweeter white wine from hand selected, very ripe grapes. Fruity, crisp, an intensely
peachy bouquet. A noble wine that works with salads, chicken, and desserts, or as an aperitif.)
329 Emile Boeckel, Gewürztraminer 30.00
(Smell ripe stone fruit, peach, violets, lily of the valley, quince, rose petal, lychee,
and mineral – powerfully aromatic and very palate-pleasing.)
331 Macon-Péronne, Domaine des Légères 25.00
(A nutty, earthy, herbal nose. Lovely style, with ripe, sweet, apple fruit that hints at peach &
apricot. A fine core of mineral & lemon acidity that shimmers through to the finish. A hint of
creamy, mellow smokiness, but very delicately handled. Terrific stuff, a great burgundy. )
333 Château Thieuley, Domaine Courselle à la Sauve 26.00
(One of the best of a new generation of wines from Bordeaux by women winemakers. Think
apple, pear, peach, melon, even pineapple, with honeyed silvery-green notes & supple freshness.
Good length and balance with a smoky finish.)
335 Scolaris Pinot Grigio, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia 22.00
(Farming their land since 1924, the Scolaris family from the Collio district of Friuli is
renowned for producing some of Italy’s finest wines. Ripe, fresh, summer fruit flavors –
peaches, apple, pear, honey. Soft, generous, well-balanced. The fine minerality and
creamy “mouth-feel” are an awesome combo.)
Innkeeper Specials
When we visited Napa wineries and makers we knew and others that were new to us, we brought back a few bottles from several limited production vineyards specializing in select handcrafted wines. Many follow biodynamic farming where the whole vineyard is viewed as a living, interconnected organism – no synthetic fertilizers, no insecticides. You can’t easily find these wines here in the northeast, and they are spectacular. The quantities are very limited, so please ask your waitperson about availability.
